Hey Family,
Corky (Dad) and I just returned from Shelby's first Collegiate Cross Country Conference Meet in Beaumont, Texas and the SFA Girls Team won 1st Place in the Conference. SFA's Boys' Team also did well taking 3rd Place in the Conference. Treyce, Shelby's Dad, George, and her Uncle Marvin were also able to attend, and we ate lunch with her after the meet. Sadly, that was about the extent of our visit, but we felt blessed just being a part of this joyous time in her life.
The evening before Corky/Dad and I stayed in College Station with Treyce and were able to see him compete in an intramural play-off football game. Treyce was the QB, and they did well but the other team won the game. It was quite comical when Dad's (Corky's) phone went off in the middle of the game playing the entire UT Fight Song...and of course, Dad held his phone high and refused to silence it until the music ended. Needless to say, we received some "strange" looks but the look on Dad's face was ALL PRIDE (so much for the poor person trying to reach him by phone....as they were long forgotten...).
Another humorous moment was watching Dad try to cross "THE GREAT DIVIDE". Treyce gave up his tiny cubicle of a room to Dad and I. I brought a blow up mattress that spanned the only available walking space. I thought Dad was safely in Treyce's bed on the far side of mattress, and I proceeded to the kitchen to get some water. Little did I know, Dad had decided he needed to go to the restroom one last time.... When I opened the door, all I saw were two long legs sticking straight up in the air! Due to my surprise and uncontrollable laughter, I quickly closed the door (afraid to see anymore) and was consumed by laughter. Treyce came running but by that time whatever trick maneuver Dad was attempting was completed. He was safely back in Treyce's bed ready for a good night's rest. I know Mom and Aunt Shirley are still giggling in Heaven.
I will post pictures later after I locate some pics on Shelby's Facebook. Some of you may have already seen the pictures if you have a Facebook account. If that is the case, please email them to me robyn.pesek@gmail.com or upload them to our Family Blog. Thanks Love you all Robyn.
